Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 29, 2025

Matthew Montavon for Congress (“we,” “us,” or “the Campaign”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By visiting our website or interacting with us online or offline (including email, phone, events, donations, petitions, and sign-ups), you agree to this Policy.

1) Information We Collect

  • Information you provide: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, ZIP code, employer and occupation (as required by campaign finance laws), donation amounts, messages you send us, event RSVPs, petition signatures, and preferences.

  • Automatic data: IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, links clicked, referral URLs, approximate location, and other usage data collected via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.

  • From third parties: voter or supporter files, social platforms, event partners, payment processors, and data providers that support our outreach and compliance. We only receive what is permitted by law and their privacy policies.

2) How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Operate and improve our website, communications, and supporter tools

  • Process donations and comply with federal and state campaign-finance laws

  • Send updates, event invites, advocacy calls to action, and fundraising appeals

  • Personalize content and measure the effectiveness of our outreach and ads

  • Detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents or misuse

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

3) Cookies, Analytics & Advertising

We (and service providers) use cookies, pixels, and similar tools to remember your preferences, analyze traffic, and measure campaign performance. We may use analytics and advertising platforms that provide aggregated reports and interest-based ads. You can manage browser cookies through your settings; note that blocking cookies may affect site functionality.

4) Email & Text Communications

If you provide your email or mobile number, you consent to receive campaign communications, which may include automated emails and texts. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in emails or replying STOP to texts (HELP for help). Opting out may not stop non-promotional messages (e.g., transaction receipts or legal notices).

Note: This section covers general consent and opt-out disclosures. If you plan to run a full SMS program, we recommend adding separate “SMS Terms” on your site and linking them here.

5) Donations & Payment Information

Online contributions are processed by a third-party payment processor. The Campaign does not store full payment card numbers. We receive limited transaction details needed for receipts, record-keeping, fraud prevention, and legal compliance (including employer/occupation for required FEC reporting). Contributions are subject to applicable campaign-finance laws and limitations.

6) How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Vendors & service providers that help us operate the Campaign (hosting, email/text platforms, analytics, payment processing, data verification, and compliance) under agreements that limit their use of your information

  • Allies & partner organizations with similar political goals, where permitted by law

  • Public filings required by law (e.g., certain donor information must be reported to the FEC)

  • Law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security

  • Successor entities in the event of reorganization consistent with campaign-finance rules

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may permit advertising or analytics partners to collect limited data on our site via cookies/pixels; you can manage those technologies as described above.

7) Data Retention

We retain information as long as needed for campaign activities, legal and reporting obligations, security, and archival purposes, unless a longer retention period is required or allowed by law.

8) Your Choices

  • Emails: click “Unsubscribe” in any email.

  • Texts: reply STOP to opt out (HELP for help).

  • Cookies: adjust browser or device settings to limit cookies or ad tracking.

  • Access/Deletion: You may request access, correction, or deletion of your information (subject to legal exemptions) by contacting us at Info@Montavon4Congress.com.

9) State-Specific Notices

Depending on where you live (e.g., California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia), you may have additional privacy rights. We honor applicable state privacy laws and will take reasonable steps to process eligible requests. Some information (such as donation records required by law) may be exempt.

10) Children’s Privacy

Our site and outreach are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12) Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common industry standard, our site may not respond to these signals. You can still manage cookies and ad preferences as described above.

13) Links to Other Sites

We may link to sites or services we do not control. Their privacy practices govern those properties.

14) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
