Community Spotlight: Out and About in FL-17

What a weekend we had to close out the month of March! We hit the ground running, and the energy was electric at No Kings events in Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee Counties. Special shout-out to the local videography team we connected with—it’s small businesses like theirs that form the backbone of our district.

Thanks to this talented film crew, we’ve captured stories from everyday voters like you. Keep an eye on our Facebook Page —we’ll soon be releasing new videos featuring some of the neighbors we’ve met!

"I’ve spent years in public service, but the most important work is happening right here, right now, in discussions on our sidewalks and in community meetings."
— Matthew Montavon

What We’ve Been Hearing

In conversations with voters, three topics keep coming up:

Protecting Our Democracy: Voters are ready to end the abuse of executive power and restore accountability.
Reproductive Freedom: Floridians want the right to choose protected at the federal level.
The "Tariff / Iran War Tax": Families are feeling the pinch at the grocery store and the gas  pump, and they want a representative who understands how for lowering the cost of living.

Matthew is ready to fight for residents of Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee Counties on all these fronts and more.

Matthew is frequently at Democratic and Indivisible events, as well as meetings and rallies for democracy, to pass sensible gun legislation, and to reform immigration law and enforcement. As one woman said, “Matthew is everywhere!” and that’s true.
